Berne-Belp Airport (BRN) Information

(Berne, Switzerland)

Berne Airport is the nearest air gateway to Switzerland's national capital and fourth-most populous city. This air hub may not be Switzerland's largest, but it nonetheless offers some of the cheapest parking and shortest check-in times of any airport in the nation.

In recent years, Berne Airport's annual passenger throughput has increased by more than 80 percent, partly due to the new Schengen flight terminal which opened in 2011. Close to 200,000 passengers now enter this complex on an annual basis. Of note, it is also called Bern-Belp Airport or simply Belp, because of its location in the tiny community of Belp.

The airport's Biderhangar is a listed national heritage site as it was constructed by and named after Oskar Bider, one of Switzerland's most famous aviation pioneers. Today, the Biderhangar welcomes flights from dozens of European destinations, many of which are low-budget seasonal Flybe, Helvetic Airways and Sky Work Airlines flights.
