Berne Travel and Transport: Picture of the viaduct over the River AarTravelling around central Berne is easy and best done on foot, particularly if you are staying close by. Tickets for both bus and tram transport are available from automated dispensers at the various stops around Berne, offering an extremely affordable way to travel and reach your chosen destination.

Those wishing to travel to outlying areas such as the Guisanplatz will generally find that trams are the best mode of transport, with day passes for both the city and the regional network providing good value. Passes for 24, 48 and 72 hours can be purchased at the Berne Mobil Public Transport Office, which is located on the Bubenbergplatz. It is even possible to freely obtain city bikes for just a small, refundable deposit, and these are available from 'Bern Rollt' kiosks at the Bahnhofplatz and the Casinoplatz.
